Singing Voice Rehabilitation

Private 1:1 Sessions in Singing Voice Rehabilitation for singers diagnosed with muscle tension dysphonia, vocal fold injuries or pathologies.

Imagine my devastation, as a professional singer, educator and voice user, to receive a diagnosis of bi-lateral vocal fold paresis in 2013. This fairly rare neurological condition (which has nothing to do with technique or vocal abuse,) prevents the vocal folds from vibrating. Nothing but a “hisssss” sounded through my voice.

The condition had been mis-diagnosed for 8 years by the medical community so by the time the diagnosis was made, the condition had deteriorated greatly.

I worked over a ten-year period to heal myself vocally, emotionally and spiritually.

It turns out that I was born to heal voices, as well as my own. I am grateful for the colleagues and other experts I’ve learned from over more than a 45 year period in arts’ education.

I use evidence-based methods and science as well as intuitive somatic perception and trained somatic experiencing methods to work with clients. I am trauma-informed and also have healthy personal boundaries. It is my passion & mission to help other singers who are not able to experience singing as joyful!

Allow me to help you navigate women’s voice changes and/or find the sweet spot between technical development and your authentic heart expression. I work with many genres of singing, somatic reeducation, principles of adult learning and the brain, practical functional vocal pedagogy, and your artist’s soul all at once, and have done so since 1985.

I can also help facilitate communication with your conductor, other teachers, bands or instrumentalists.
